Happy New Year!
Well, I have finally decided to make this store public. Seems like a 'duh' statement, but you might be surprised at how difficult it is to put something like this out into the world. Just like with any creative project there is a rush of varied emotions that come along with it. It's a mix of excitement and anxiety with a lot of doubting thoughts running through my head. "Will they like my designs?", "Will anyone even look at my store?", "What if nobody likes them?", "Was this a mistake?", "Am I cut out for this?", "Did I do everything right?", "Will the store even work?" etc...
BUT one cannot let these thoughts take control. You have to just keep truckin' and trying. That's the only way... I think.
One way I have been trying to overcome these feeling is by watching more of the creators who inspire me. And let me tell you, there are A LOT of them.
It got me thinking about all the advice that I have consumed from these incredible people. All the tips and tricks and "life hacks" that have filtered into my brain and in one way or another influenced my work and driven me to do more, be more, and create more. I wanted to find a way to pay homage to those creators. Then one night, laying in bed, it hit me! I'll make a shirt! Something that will remind me of all the knowledge they've bestowed, and show them (if they ever see it) how much their work has inspired me.
I quickly jotted down the idea and the next morning the design for "The Creators" emerged from my mind.
This design is probably my favourite in the whole store. It represents hours and hours of priceless content that they have created and the endless flow of inspiration that I have received from them. I hope to one day be able to thank them all in person, but for now I hope wearing them on my chest will be a an acceptable consolation.
Wondering who they all are? I highly encourage you to give each and every one of them a follow - and if you think I am missing someone who belongs in this crowd feel free to enlighten me. I love discovering new (and old) creators!
Here are all of the creators on the shirt in order of appearance.
drock (David)
Dunna Did It (Justin) / Justin Odisho
Video Creators (Tim Schmoyer)
This Guy Edits (Sven)
YC Imaging (Chrystopher)
Mango Street (Daniel Inskeep & Rachel Gulotta)
Story Greenlight (Jeff Bartsch)
Nate's Film Tutorials (not me)
Film Riot (Josh Connolly)
PHEW! that's a lot of creators and all of them have something awesome to offer. I'm sure there are some out there that I missed or just haven't discovered yet. (if I missed you, geez, I'm sorry.. let me know and I'll make it up to you somehow). In the coming weeks I will be talking more about these creators, going into their channels and discussing what they are bring to the table for fellow creators and what I think makes them awesome.
Until next time, thank for reading!
And don't forget to check out The Creators Hoodie and T-shirt in the store.
